The Japanese automaker Toyota intends to stop producing one of the most popular business-class sedan models, the Camry, for the domestic market by the end of this year, reports TASS with reference to the Japanese edition of Nikkei. At the same time, the release of Camry for foreign customers will continue.

Relevant notifications were received by dealerships across the country. The curtailment of production will begin with the termination of orders for new cars.

The concern is phasing out the Camry for domestic buyers due to the model's declining popularity among the Japanese, who in recent years have increasingly given preference to the larger Crown sedan.

The Camry has been in production since 1980. For more than 40 years, about 21 million copies have been sold worldwide. The most popular among Camry sedans is in the USA.
