The number of voters registered for the elections to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan as of March 12, 2023 amounted to more than 3.5 million people, TASS writes with reference to the Central Commission of Turkmenistan for holding elections and referenda.
“As of March 12, 2023, there are 3 496 475 registered voters in the country. 13 078 voters will vote in foreign countries,” the message says.
Currently, 2 644 polling stations have been established in the country, as well as 42 at the diplomatic missions and consulates of Turkmenistan abroad.
The elections will be monitored by 2 855 national observers and representatives of international organizations such as the UN, the CIS, the Organization of Turkic States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Bureau for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Media representatives from foreign countries will also arrive, the source notes.
240 polling stations will be equipped with video cameras. The Agency "Turkmensvyaz" is working in this direction. The voting will be broadcast live on the CEC website on March 26 from 07:00 to 19:00 Ashgabat time.
We remind that elections to the Mejlis of Turkmenistan are scheduled for March 26. Also on this day, members of the velayat, etrap, city halk maslahaty and Gengeshes will be elected.
