Tonight, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived on a two-day official visit to Qatar, reports the electronic version of the “Turkmenistan” newspaper.
At the Hamad International Airport in Doha, where on the occasion of the arrival of the distinguished guest, the State flags of the two countries were raised on flagpoles and the guard of honor was lined up, the head of Turkmenistan was met by officials and members of the Turkmen delegation.
According to the program of the visit, on March 20, negotiations will be held between the President of Turkmenistan and the Emir of the State of Qatar. Based on their results, the signing of bilateral documents aimed at strengthening the legal framework of the Turkmen-Qatari cooperation is expected.
It is planned that the heads of state will also take part in the opening ceremony of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the State of Qatar in Doha.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar were established on November 22, 1996.
Last December, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov already visited Qatar on a one-day visit. During the working visit, the head of Turkmenistan held talks with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, attended the 1/8 final match of the World Cup between the Netherlands and the USA, as well as at the “Khalifa” stadium, where the game was held, had a brief conversation with Prime Minister and Interior Minister of Qatar Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulomaziz Al Thani and President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino.
