Ashgabat hosted a meeting between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Mahri Bashimova, and the Country Director of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Turkmenistan, Olaf Ronnie Lindstrom, the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
During the talks, the parties discussed issues of cooperation in the field of reproductive health, gender equality and the empowerment of women.
According to Bashimova, Turkmenistan highly appreciates the work of UNFPA in assisting in the preparation of a report on the results of the national sample survey “Health and Status of Women in the Family in Turkmenistan”.
It was also noted that cooperation between Turkmenistan and UNFPA in the field of youth policy has great prospects.
As the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan notes, a successful example of bilateral cooperation was the provision of technical assistance by UNFPA to the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Statistics in the preparation and conduct of a complete population and housing census of the country in 2022.
