The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held talks with the Vice President of Iran in Ashgabat

Today, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Vice President, Chairman of the Organization for Environmental Protection of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ali Salajegheh discussed topical issues on the bilateral agenda covering a wide range of areas. The distinguished guest arrived in Ashgabat at the head of an Iranian delegation to participate in the international conference “Partnership in the field of food security in the face of climate change”.

According to the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, during the talks, the parties touched upon the main areas of cooperation in the field of trade, economy, energy, transport and logistics. In the context of the further development of trade and economic partnership, the significance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission for Economic Cooperation was emphasized.

Noting the relevance of environmental issues, Rashid Meredov and Ali Salajegheh spoke about the need to combine efforts in the fight against climate change and environmental problems, primarily on a regional scale. In this regard, attention was focused on consolidating actions to combat desertification and sandstorms, and water issues.
