Over 119 000 tourists visited Azerbaijan in January this year, this is 61% more than in the same period in 2022, the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan reports.
In January 2022, this figure was more than 74 thousand people.
According to statistics, in January 2023, over 1,5 thousand citizens of Turkmenistan arrived in Azerbaijan for tourism purposes.
Russia ranks first in terms of the number of tourists who came to Azerbaijan in January - 40.2 thousand people. The second place is occupied by Turkey (25.1 thousand people), and the third by Iran (11.1 thousand people).
We remind that Azerbaijan has resumed issuing electronic visas to citizens of Turkmenistan since July 2022. An e-visa is the equivalent of a traditional visa, it gives a foreign citizen the right to enter the country. ASAN visas are issued for a single visit up to 30 days. Citizens of Turkmenistan can also apply for a visa in advance at the consular section of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Ashgabat.
