Russian universities will increase the number of their branches in Uzbekistan, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

In addition, the agency plans to open new branches of educational institutions in Kazakhstan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar and Cuba.

“We always support all initiative projects. Much depends on the universities themselves, on their ability and readiness to move forward. In each country there is a whole palette of opinions: how to develop education, according to what model - Western, Eastern or national. This should not stop us from developing Russian education,” said Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia.

He also added that it is necessary to consider new formats of study that are not related to higher education. For example, preparatory courses or continuing education courses.

Currently, subdivisions of Lomonosov Moscow State University, Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Mendeleev Russian Chemical Technical University, Herzen State Pedagogical University, VGIK, MISiS, MEPhI, MGIMO and others are operating in Uzbekistan.
