Negotiations between the King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who arrived in this country on an official visit the day before, began in Manama, reports the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting in a narrow format and in an expanded composition of delegations, the parties will discuss priority issues of developing bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The heads of state will also exchange views on a number of topical issues on the international and regional agenda of mutual interest.

Following the results of the Turkmen-Bahraini summit talks, it is planned to sign a package of bilateral documents aimed at expanding cooperation between Ashgabat and Manama in various fields.

Let us remind that this is the first visit of Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the rank of President of Turkmenistan to a friendly country, which makes it of particular importance for the further strengthening and development of bilateral cooperation, which is now reaching a qualitatively new level.

The upcoming summit is called upon to determine priority areas for mutually beneficial partnership, taking into account modern realities and a solid potential for interaction both in the trade and economic sphere and in the cultural and humanitarian field. At the same time, this visit will be another step towards the implementation of the policy of broad international cooperation pursued by independent neutral Turkmenistan, aimed at a constructive dialogue with all countries of the planet, including the Arab states.

Turkmenistan and Bahrain traditionally interact in a multilateral format, within the framework of international organizations, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Having established diplomatic relations in December 1995, Turkmenistan and the Kingdom of Bahrain seek to give a long-term, full-scale partnership on the principles of mutual benefit, trust and respect for each other's interests. A new historical era has opened up broad prospects for building fruitful ties in a variety of industries.

One of the priority areas of interstate cooperation is the fuel and energy complex, which is strategic for the economies of the two countries. At the same time, given the mutual intention of the parties to diversify effective contacts, there are good opportunities for establishing cooperation in other areas, including in the financial and investment sector, maritime transport, as well as in the tourism industry and sports, the development of which in both Turkmenistan and Bahrain given great attention.
