The Hong Kong government is offering up to 500 thousand free flights in a “one-plus-one-free” scheme to revive tourism, according to Gulf News. The action was called Hallo Hong Kong, and almost 255 million USD was allocated for its implementation.

The authorities of the country offered the opportunity to visit Hong Kong for free to residents of the United Arab Emirates. When purchasing a ticket from Dubai to Hong Kong, the return ticket will be completely free.

The Hong Kong government hopes that the action will attract the attention of tourists from other countries in the Middle East, and not just the UAE.

Before the start of the pandemic, up to 56 million tourists visited Hong Kong annually, but in 2020 their number fell to 100 thousand people.

From March 1, free tickets will be distributed to tourists from Southeast Asian countries, from April 1 to residents of mainland China, and from May 1 to all other countries of the world.
