Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a record in the book of condolences to the victims of the disastrous earthquake, visiting the Turkish Embassy in Ashgabat, reports the information program “Watan” of the Turkmen television.

The National Leader of Turkmen people conveyed words of sincere empathy and support at this difficult moment to the families and friends of the victims, wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

“Showing sympathy to fraternal peoples in difficult times for them is one of the characteristic features of the Turkmen people”, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, noting that many years of life experience have shown how important words of support are for raising a person's spirit.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Türkiye to Turkmenistan Togan Oral expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for taking the time to come to the Embassy and addressed words of support to the Turkish people at this difficult moment. The head of the diplomatic mission said that he would convey his condolences to the President of the Republic of Türkiye.

Today, during a speech in the city of Hatay, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the death toll in the earthquake in Turkey reached 9057, 52.979 people were injured. The Head of State specified that 6444 buildings collapsed in the affected provinces.

On the night to February 6, in Türkiye experienced the strongest earthquake in the country since 1939 with a magnitude of 7.8. Strong underground tremors were also felt in Syria, Cyprus, Georgia, Aphasia, Iraq, Lebanon.

As per the latest data, the total number of victims in Türkiye and Syria excessed 11 thousand people.

In connection with the numerous victims, a seven-day national mourning has been declared in Türkiye, and a state of emergency has been imposed for three months in ten provinces affected by the disaster.
