Uzbekistan will receive a batch of liquefied gas as friendly and fraternal assistance from Turkmenistan. The relevant Order “in order to further strengthen good neighborly relations of friendship and brotherhood between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan and provide friendly and fraternal support to the neighboring country” was signed today by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, announced the “Watan” news program of the Turkmen television.

The document instructs the State Concern “Turkmengas” “to transfer the corresponding volume of liquefied gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan free of charge as a friendly and fraternal assistance”.

The authorities of Uzbekistan earlier decided to intensify the import of gas, electricity, coal and fuel oil due to a shortage of energy resources against the backdrop of cold weather in the country.

Earlier it was also reported that Uzbekistan imports about 1,5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Turkmenistan in winter to meet domestic demand.
