On January 19, the funeral of the legendary Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida will be in her hometown of Subiaco.

Thousands of residents of Rome, including the mayor of the Italian capital Roberto Gualtieri, came to the farewell ceremony for the actress.

Gina Lollobrigida passed away on January 16 at the age of 95.

She is best known for her roles in the films “Notre Dame Cathedral” and “Fanfan Tulip”, in total she starred in several dozen films both in Europe and in Hollywood. The gossip of those times called her a style icon, the most beautiful woman on Earth and considered Sophia Loren's rival.

In 1961, she visited the Moscow Film Festival, a photograph where she kisses the first cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, spread around the world.

The largest number of films with her participation came out in the period from the 40s to the 60s of the last century. After that, Lollobrigida began to act less frequently, devoting much more time to photojournalism and sculpture (in her youth she studied at the Institute of Fine Arts, drawing for a living), was actively involved in charity work, and also tried to make a political career.

In her native Italy, Lollobrigida was awarded the “Order of Merit of the Italian Republic”, the Order of the Legion of Honor and the title of officer of the Order of Arts and Letters, and her name star appeared on the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles in 2018.
