Tennis players from Turkmenistan became silver medalists of the first qualifying tournament of the Asian Championship (U-14) in Bahrain

Tennis players from Turkmenistan Ilima Guseynova, as well as Imran Ahundov and Selim Chagylov became silver medalists of the first qualifying tournament of the Asian Championship of the Central and Western Asia among players under 14 years old - ITF Asia 14&U Development Championships, reports the electronic newspaper “Golden Age”.

Competitions, consisting of two qualifying stages, are held in the city of Isa Town (Bahrain) with the participation of representatives of 8 countries.

Ilima Guseynova was second in singles, while Imran Ahundov and Selim Chagylov achieved the same result in doubles.

On the way to success, the 12 years old first racket of Turkmenistan won in the first match against Kai Chkaiban (Lebanon) - 7:6, 6:4, then in a three-set quarterfinal match she defeated Keira Kim (Uzbekistan) - 1:6, 6:2 , 7:6, and in the semifinals she easily beat Eva Gavshina (Kyrgyzstan) — 6:2, 6:2. In the final, the Turkmen tennis player lost in a bitter struggle to Emily Kim (Uzbekistan) - 7:6, 3:6, 2:6 and was satisfied with the second place.

In the doubles, Imran Ahundov and Selim Chagylov in the quarterfinals defeated the duet Ahmed Alsaid / Marwan Rashad Janakhi (Qatar) - 6:2, 7:6, and in the semifinal three-set duel they were stronger than the pair David Mogilevskiy / Sultan Satykeev (Kyrgyzstan) - 3: 6, 6:1, 10:5. In the final, the young men from Turkmenistan lost to Akmal Abdullayev and Abdulhodiy Khosilov (Uzbekistan) - 2:6, 2:6 and became silver medalists.

Ilima Guseynova, Imran Ahundov and Selim Chagylov are pupils of the Ashgabat Tennis Academy, improving their sports skills under the guidance of the head coach of the Turkmenistan national team Mirali Hasanov.
