Former “Real Madrid” and Wales captain Gareth Bale has announced his retirement.

“After careful and deep consideration, I have decided to announce that I am leaving my club and international football from now on. I consider myself incredibly lucky because I was able to realize my dream and play the sport that I love”, the footballer wrote on his social media page.

Gareth Bale made his senior debut for Wales in May 2006, becoming the youngest international player at the time. The football player has played more than 100 matches for the national team.

At the club level, Gareth Bale gained popularity thanks to his performance for London's “Tottenham” Hotspur, where he scored 42 goals in 146 matches.

In 2013, “Real Madrid” signed him for a then-record 100 million euros. In the “creamy” camp, the Welshman won the Champions League five times, the Club World Cup four times, La Liga three times, the European Super Cup twice, the Spanish Super Cup and the Spanish Cup once each.

In July 2022, Gareth Bale signed a contract with the MLS club “Los Angeles Galaxy”, running until the end of the season. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Gareth Bale scored the only goal for the national team in the tournament.
