India will compete for the right to host the 2036 Olympic Games. This was announced by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the country Anurag Singh Thakur, writes Vesti.ru.
Thakur noted that the city of Ahmedabad will be able to host the Summer Olympics.
“I am confident that the government, together with the Indian Olympic Committee, will be able to bid to host the Olympics”, the Times Of India quoted the sports minister as saying.
He also noted that until 2032 the places for future Olympic Games have already been allocated, but from 2036 India will be fully prepared and will apply.
“India is putting a lot of effort into the development of sports. I can assure you that we will not only host the Olympics, but also make it a major event”, Thakur concluded.
