Turkmenistan will take part in the 9th meeting of foreign ministers in the “Central Asia + Japan” format, which will be held on December 24 in Tokyo at the “Iikura” Reception House, reports newscentralasia.net with reference to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

The foreign ministers of Japan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will participate in the forum.

The meeting will be devoted to discussing sustainable development in the region, and the ministers will also discuss the situation in Afghanistan and other issues on the international agenda.

Within the framework of the forum, bilateral meetings of the Japanese Foreign Minister with colleagues from Central Asian countries will be held.

It is expected that this event will chart the way to a concrete partnership in all areas of mutual interest.

Let us remind that on August 11, 2020, an extraordinary meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies on the dialogue “Central Asia + Japan” was held, which was held in the format of a videoconference. The 8th meeting of the Dialogue was held in April this year.

The “Central Asia + Japan” format, initiated by Japan, opened on August 28, 2004, when the start of a dialogue between the governments of Central Asian countries and Japan was announced in Astana.
