The Art of Turkmen Embroidery is included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Such decision was made during the 17th Intergovernmental Committee of the organization in the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco, reports “MIR 24”.

“The Art of Embroidery” is one of the well-known folk craft of Turkmenistan. Here the ancient tradition is passed down from generation to generation. Wool, silk, gold, silver, pearls, colored stones, coins and even corals are used for embroidery. At the same time, almost all the work is done with a needle”, the source notes.

Recently, it was reported that in the work of session take part the representatives of member countries of the Convention for the Protection of the Intangible Heritage of 2003, non-governmental organizations, cultural institutions and other interested parties from around the world.
