Training and information centers to support the rights and opportunities, as well as employment of youth, have been established at local departments of employment and labor in six pilot cities of Turkmenistan: Ashgabat, Dashoguz, Mary, Tejen, Turkmenabat and Turkmenbashi.

The centers were created by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan within the framework of the STRIVE Asia project funded by the European Union.

The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Turkmenistan provided premises and the necessary infrastructure, while UNDP in Turkmenistan purchased and donated IT equipment, including 28 desktop computers, 3 printers and 3 projectors.

To ensure the sustainability of these initiatives, the parties agreed and signed the Protocol on the establishment of training and information centers and the Regulations on them. The centers will serve as a platform for conducting trainings on psychological and legal support, developing the professional skills of young people. It will also host “Open Houses” for the public to provide young people with the opportunity to explore new technological opportunities and use resources to develop skills and employability.

It is expected that the new centers will facilitate Turkmenistan's cooperation with international partners, including the UN agencies for youth employment and social support.

Country component of the global project “Strengthening Resilience to Violent Extremism in Asia (STRIVE Asia). Joint EU-UN Partnership” aims to strengthen the resilience of local communities by supporting state and civil society organizations in achieving goals related to the prevention of violent extremism among vulnerable youth.
