The official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the United Arab Emirates will be on November 21-22. Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on the preparation of the visit, which will result in the signing of a number of bilateral documents, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers today, announced the “Watan” news program of the Turkmen television.
According to R. Meredov, diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the UAE were established in October 1995.
Systematic interaction has been established between the countries through governments and foreign ministries, as well as within the framework of authoritative international organizations.
Bilateral trade and economic partnership is steadily developing, there are great opportunities to increase the volume of trade. An important role in this is assigned to the Joint Committee for Cooperation. At present time, together with the Abu Dhabi Development Fund and other financial structures of the UAE, activities are being carried out to develop and implement investment projects. Among them is the construction of the International Airport in Jebel, as well as the first solar-wind power plant in Turkmenistan. The power plant will generate clean energy, providing reliable and uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the settlements that will appear around the “Altyn Asyr” Turkmen Lake in the Central Karakum desert.
Positive dynamics is also inherent in the long-term Turkmen-Emirati cooperation in the humanitarian field - in the fields of education, science and culture.
After listening to the information, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan is invariably committed to the strategy of constructive international cooperation that meets the goals of global peace and prosperity. Noting that in the implementation of the foreign policy of the Motherland, great importance is attached to the development of fruitful relations with the countries of the Middle East, the head of state noted with satisfaction the traditionally friendly nature of the interstate dialogue with the United Arab Emirates.
The presence of a solid potential creates favorable opportunities for further building up and diversifying bilateral trade and economic partnerships, intensifying investment activities and business contacts, as well as for deepening humanitarian and cultural ties and enriching their content.
As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized, the upcoming summit talks are designed to determine the key vectors of mutually beneficial cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, taking into account modern realities and long-term prospects, and to give new concrete content to interstate relations. In this context, the head of Turkmenistan instructed the vice-premier, head of the Foreign Ministry to ensure a high organizational level of preparation for the official visit to the UAE.
