Route of the “Silk Way” rally in 2023 will pass from Kazan to Moscow

The 2023 “Silk Way” rally will start in Kazan and finish in Moscow.

The largest rally-raid competition in Eurasia will be held from July 6 to 15, 2023, crossing three time zones through 13 subjects of Russia. The route is planned to include regions that were not involved in previous editions of the “Silk Way”: the Orenburg, Samara and Saratov regions, as well as the city of Magnitogorsk in the Chelyabinsk region.

Administrative and technical checks will be held in Kazan on July 5 and 6, after which the participants will pass through the starting podium on Millennium Square during the grand opening ceremony of the rally. Further through Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, the caravan will reach Magnitogorsk on the eastern slope of the Southern Urals. From the Urals, racers will go to discover the steppe and flat high-speed tracks of the Orenburg, Samara and Saratov regions. The final test will be the Archedinsk-Don sands of the Volgograd region, as well as off-road and fords of the Lipetsk and Tula regions. Finishes the rally in Moscow.

In total, the duration of the race will be 10 days, during which time the participants will have to overcome 5230 kilometers. 2350 of them will be high-speed special stages, most of them will be held on mixed surfaces.

Participants on all types of equipment will be permitted to compete: motorcycles, ATVs, all-terrain vehicles, SUVs and trucks.

  • February 15 — Start accepting applications for participation
  • June 1 — Closing date for applications for participation
  • July 5–6 — Administrative and technical checks (Kazan, Tatarstan)
  • July 6 - Solemn start in the city of Kazan
  • July 6–15 — Nine stages through the territory of Russia
  • July 15 - Solemn finish in the city of Moscow

Let us remind that at the “Silk Way” rally-raid in 2022, Turkmen racers took the entire podium in the off-road category of the T2 over 1000 km discipline. On the top step of the podium with a time of 48 hours 47 minutes 25 seconds - pilot Merdan Toylyev and navigator Shohrat Toylyev. For them, this victory was the first in the prestigious marathon. Shamyrat Gurbanov (pilot) and Muhametmurat Gurbanov (navigator) lost 7 minutes and 47 seconds to them. Maksatmyrat Danatarov (pilot) and Didar Orazmedov (navigator) were behind the winners by 3 hours 59 minutes and 44 seconds, closing the top three. The auto marathon passed through the territory of Russia with a start in Astrakhan and a finish in Moscow.
