Today, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to Turkmenistan (with residence in Tehran), Mr. Muhammad Tezikuba Kisambira presented his credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the press-service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry reports.
On behalf of the Head of State, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Berdiniyaz Myatiyev congratulated the guest on his appointment to a responsible diplomatic post, wishing him success in the work of strengthening of friendship and cooperation between two countries.
Thanking for warm welcome, the diplomat, in turn, conveyed to the Turkmen leader from the leadership of the Republic of Uganda warm wishes for further progress and prosperity to friendly Turkmenistan, assuring that he would use all the experience and knowledge to increase bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two countries.
During the further conversation, the parties expressed the interest of Turkmenistan and Uganda in establishing long-term cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
It was noted that high-level visits, as well as cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, play an important role in the development of bilateral relations. The need to expand the legal framework for cooperation was also emphasized.
In this regard, as a first step, it was proposed to develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries and a Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2023-2024.
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation at the multilateral level and important issues on the UN agenda of mutual interest were also discussed.
The diplomats expressed their interest in developing trade and economic ties. In this regard, the parties noted the importance of organizing meetings between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries with the participation of representatives of the business community to advance this process.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republicс of Uganda were established on August, 1999.
