The Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and the US Department of Health and Human Services have entered into a memorandum of cooperation in the field of health and medical sciences between the US Government and the Government of Turkmenistan. The document was signed during the visit of US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu to Ashgabat.
The memorandum provides a framework for cooperation between Turkmenistan and the United States in such areas of health as public health services, including emergency outbreak response, scientific and applied research in prevention and clinical health, the implementation of eHealth solutions, and prevention, surveillance and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases.
The implementation of the memorandum provides for mutual consultations, exchange of specialists and information, joint projects, participation in symposiums and conferences, publication of articles, as well as other ways of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
It was also noted that this cooperation will facilitate direct interaction between the educational and medical institutions of both countries associated with health systems.
