The socks that Potter fans bring to the symbolic grave of the house elf Dobby have begun to pose a threat to the nature of Wales, writes “MIR 24” with reference to The New York Times.

Dobby's “grave” in Wales - the place where, according to fans of the Harry Potter saga, the house elf died, is a small mound of beach stones among the sand dunes. Over the years, fans have brought to the “grave” so many socks - symbols of Dobby's liberation of his favorite piece of clothing - that their number began to threaten the ecosystem of the coast. According to environmentalists, some coastal birds have begun to eat socks, and socks are often carried away by the surf into the sea, polluting it as well.

The Welsh authorities threatened to destroy the place of pilgrimage for Potter fans, but Dobby's fans prevented this and promised that they would no longer bring socks to the “grave”.
