Turkmenistan celebrates the Day of National Currency

On November 1, Turkmenistan celebrates the 29th anniversary of the introduction of the national currency of Turkmenistan - the manat. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the pages of the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan” addressed the employees of the banking system, wishing them good health, family well-being, a peaceful and happy life, great success in their work for the further development of the sovereign Motherland.

The head of Turkmenistan noted that the banking sector is one of the main drivers of the national economy. Its activity is consistently increasing in accordance with the “State Program for the Development of the Banking System of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030”, the “Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy in Turkmenistan in 2019-2025” and the Program “Revival of a New Era of a Powerful State: National Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052”.

Let us note that at present time banknotes in Turkmenistan are issued in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 manats and coins in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 tenge and 1 and 2 manats. In January 2009 in Turkmenistan was a denomination, as a result of which 1 manat of the new sample was equated to 5000 old manats.
