The popularizer of Turkmen classical music Mamed Guseynov was awarded the N.V. Gogol medal

Composer, musician, active popularizer of Turkmen classical music Mamed Guseynov was awarded the medal named after N.V. Gogol for the development of cultural traditions and humanism in creative activity. This was reported by the press service of the international art festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Halmamedov.

The award ceremony took place at the residence of the International Public Foundation “Russian Peace Foundation” on October 28.

Mamed Guseynov is the creator of the idea of the Moscow International Art Festival “Sounds of Dutar” named after Nury Halmamedov and its permanent art director.

He was born in Ashgabat, graduated from the piano department of the St. Petersburg Music School at the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory, the Composition Faculty of the Russian Academy of Music named after Gnessins in Moscow. Later he studied at the graduate school of the Moscow State Pedagogical University, defended his thesis.

Currently lives in Moscow. He is a laureate of All-Russian and international competitions and the author of musical compositions in various genres.

Russian citizens are awarded the medal named after N.V. Gogol, established in 2009, for outstanding achievements in the development of Russian culture and citizens of the CIS, Baltic states, Georgia and far abroad for supporting the Russian language in the near and far abroad and merits in the development of Russian culture.
