Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Turkmenistan Konstantin Sabiashvili, the information program “Watan” of the Turkmen television reports.
Congratulating the diplomat on his appointment to a responsible post and wishing him success in further strengthening multifaceted interstate cooperation, the Head of state noted with satisfaction that in recent years Turkmen-Georgian relations have been successfully developing and strengthening on the basis of the principles of respect, trust and openness and are built on a mutually beneficial and long-term basis.
Stressing that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov confirmed his commitment to further fruitful cooperation with Georgia, with which Turkmenistan has long-standing ties of friendship.
In continuation of the meeting the head of Turkmenistan and the diplomat discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation, successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, in particular, within the framework of the United Nations.
As it was noted, the agreements reached at the highest level laid a reliable basis for bringing the Turkmen-Georgian partnership to qualitatively new frontiers.
In this context was underlined the striving towards diversification of the cooperation that meets the interests of both countries. Among the key areas, the trade and economy were highlighted, where the joint Intergovernmental Commission plays a significant role.
The topic of discussion was also such a priority area of Turkmen-Georgian interstate cooperation as the sphere of transport. As noted, the favorable geographical position of both countries and the common interests create favorable prerequisites for effective unification of efforts to create multimodal transport and transit corridors using the capabilities of the Caspian and Black Sea regions.
The energy sector is also named among the relevant areas of partnership between Turkmenistan and Georgia.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of intensifying ties in the humanitarian sphere, where there is a long-term experience of cooperation and the potential for its strengthening.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia Konstantin Sabiashvili assured President Serdar Berdimuhamedov that, for his part, he would contribute to the intensive development of traditionally friendly relations and the comprehensive expansion of cooperation between the two states.
