One of the oldest surviving Levi's jeans in history went under the hammer at the Durango Vintage Festivus auction in the United States, writes the American publisher The New York Post.

The jeans were probably made in the 1980s. They were found several years ago in an abandoned gold mine. They are quite well preserved, the fabric is still wearable, but there are several stains from candle wax on it - such candles were used in the century before last by gold miners to illuminate mines in gold deposits.

The auction was in the state of New Mexico. The jeans were sold for 87 thousand by 23 years old San Diego antique clothing collector Kyle Hoper and Los Angeles antique denim shop owner Zip Stevenson. Purchasers announced that purchasing jeans is their investment in the future.
