Iran is consulting on a major project to connect its national energy network to the energy systems of the SCO member states through Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. About this reports newscentralasia with reference to the statement of the Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Iran for International Affairs Mohammad Ali Farahnakian.
To implement this project, it is necessary to build a third transmission line between Iran and Turkmenistan, noted the adviser.
On the Iranian side, the construction of a power transmission line to the Turkmen border has been completed, and as soon as Turkmenistan starts the project, the transmission capacity of the power line will increase by 200%.
Farahnakian also added that the increase in power transmission capacity will permit Iran to export electricity from the eastern coast of the Caspian Sea.
