Turkmenistan intends to propose to the UN General Assembly a draft resolution entitled “Dialogue: a guarantee for peace”. This humanitarian initiative was voiced at the general debate of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in the speech of the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Aksoltan Atayeva.
Noting that dialogue is the only acceptable way to resolve conflicts and disagreements, the Turkmen ambassador called for the restoration of economic and humanitarian ties, reports the website newscentralasia.
There is no alternative to the United Nations, A. Atayeva said, warning that the global security system is being seriously tested.
Pointing to the complex processes hindering multilateral cooperation, she stressed the need to strengthen existing platforms for dialogue and consider creating new ones for intergovernmental negotiations on pressing global issues.
The adoption of the resolution “Dialogue: a guarantee for peace” will serve as a confirmation of the commitment of all UN member states to peaceful methods of conflict resolution based on negotiations, no matter how difficult they may be, she stressed.
