Athletes from Turkmenistan successfully performed at the IV Open Championship of Central Asia in athletics, which was held from September 24 to 25 in Samarkand (Uzbekistan).
Within the framework of international competitions, 56 sets of awards in 41 athletics disciplines were played. More than 300 athletes participated in the competition. The sports tournament was organized by the Ministry of Sports Development of Uzbekistan, the NOC of Uzbekistan and the Athletics Federation of Uzbekistan with the support of the Central Asian Athletics Association and “Uzbekneftegaz” JSC.
The national team of Turkmenistan won three gold, five silver and three bronze medals.
Gold gained:
- Valentina Meredova - 100 meters run (12,12 seconds)
- Mergen Mammedov - hammer throw (69,10 m)
- Maksat Mammedov - shot put (16,08 m)
Silver medals:
- Maksat Mammedov - discus throw (52,41 m)
- Women's team of Turkmenistan - 4x100m relay (49,23 seconds)
- Men's team of Turkmenistan - 4x100m relay (42,70 seconds)
- Women's team of Turkmenistan - relay 4x400 m (4 minutes 05,60 seconds)
- Men's team of Turkmenistan - 4x400 m relay (3 minutes 19,92 seconds)
Bronze medals:
- Jennet Muhamova - javelin throw (49,89 m)
- Alisher Sadullayev - 100 meters run (10,80 seconds)
- Bagrat Gasanbekov - long jump (7,60 m)
