The Turkmen publisher Serdar Akiniyazov told about large city of ancient and middle age period on the territory of the modern Turkmenistan.

“Sarakhs acquired special fame in the X-XII centuries, at the time of its entry into the Turkmen state of the Great Seljuks,” CentralAsia.news notes.

This city was an important center located on the route of the Great Silk Road, connecting the peoples of East and West.

“Sarahs has seen many extraordinary persons. They say that even Omar Hayyam himself considered it an honor to visit these parts,” the message emphasizes.

As per the words of Akiniyazov, great success was achieved here by medieval Sarahs master builders who created a unique architectural school famous throughout the Muslim world.

One of such architectural objects was the mausoleum of the Turkmen saint, philosopher and scientist Abu-Fazl ibn Al-Hasan as Sarahsi, or simply Sarahs-baba.

“In 1830 an English diplomat, traveler and investigator Alexander Burns (1805 – 1841) focused his attention on this mausoleum, who noted in his notes of a journey that he stopped in Sarahs near the tomb of a some Muslim of a holy man, as the inscription says, was Abdul-Fasil-Gumi” – the publicist shared.
