A briefing, dedicated to the results of the International Conference of Ministers of Transport of Landlocked Countries was held on August 19 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
As reported on the website of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry, heads of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations working in Ashgabat, foreign journalists accredited in Turkmenistan, and also leaders and representatives of national media participated in the forum.
Vice Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov in his speech noted the high international significance of the transport conference, emphasizing that the development of transport is one of the key conditions for the stable economic development of landlocked countries.
Among the speakers at the briefing were UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan D. Shlapachenko, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan A. Blokhin, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan A. Kuchkarov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan A. Tazhibayev, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan Golam Abbas Arbab Khales, Ambassador of the French Republic in Turkmenistan I. Guinel and others.
During the briefing, it was noted that the conference continues the Ashgabat process on sustainable transport in 2016, strengthens and develops its intensity in the interests of countries located in regions geographically remote from the world's oceans.
As noted, negotiations were held on the sidelines of the forum in bilateral and multilateral formats, the second meeting of the Coordinating Council of the Ashgabat Agreement participating countries and the First Meeting of
Ministers of Transport in the “Central Asia-Middle East-Africa” format were held. Four documents on cooperation were signed within the framework of the conference.
The initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan, expressed from the rostrum of the Ministerial Conference, were reflected in the final document of the International Conference.
