The Russian Federation Embassy in Turkmenistan gave recommendations for foreign citizens following transit through Russia. The corresponding announcement was posted in the Telegram channel of the diplomatic institution.
“In order to prevent problems while crossing the borders the Consulate department recommend all foreign citizens following transit through the territory of the Russian Federation, to process transit visas including those who carry out transit travel within 24 hours from the moment of arrival without changing the arrival/ departure airport,” the message says.
Visa regime between Russia and Turkmenistan is valid from 1999. Visa applications are accepted by the Consular Department of the Russian Embassy in Ashgabat.

The list of the documents necessary for obtaining a transit visa
- A valid foreign passport of the citizen of Turkmenistan and its copy (with validity at least 6 months from the day of expire of the issued visa);
- Filled in visa application form (rules for filling out the application, forms of application are here);
- Original or copy of travel documents along the entire route to the final destination (plane, train, bus tickets);
- A copy of valid visa of the country of the ultimate destination;
- Consulate fee (is paid in the cashier office of the Consulate department by US cash).
Transit visa for the persons, going through the territory of Russia to the third countries, is issued for the period of not more than 3 (three) days.
The Consular Department reserves the right to refuse to apply for a visa without explanation.
