In the near future, Uzbek schools will ban the sale of soda, energy drinks and fast food.
This is stated in the government decree “On approval of the National Action Strategy for the Health and Welfare of Adolescent Children in the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 and the program of measures for its implementation,” writes Uzreport.
Such measures will be introduced due to problems associated with the nutrition of adolescents. According to experts, in recent years, the appearance of overweight among children and adolescents aged 5 to 19 has increased several times.
The document prescribes a ban on the sale of sweet, soda and energy drinks in and around schools at a distance of at least 500 meters from September 1, 2022.
These measures will improve the health of adolescents, and also prevent diseases associated with malnutrition, notes the source.
