The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan has explained the procedure for obtaining a residence permit in the Russian Federation on the basis of “migrant status” in a simplified manner.
“In connection with the adoption of Law № 357-FZ of July 14, 2022 “On Amendments to the Federal Law “On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in the Russian Federation” and Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation”, persons resettling in the Russian Federation on the basis of a Permit to moving (resettlement) from Turkmenistan to the Russian Federation (“settlement status”), on the territory of the Russian Federation they can apply immediately for a residence permit without issuing a Temporary Residence Permit (TRP),” the Embassy said in the official Telegram channel .
At the same time, this provision applies to all holders of the “migrant status”, regardless of the presence of real estate in the territory of the Russian Federation.
The relevant provision is enshrined in paragraph 19 of Article 8 of the said Law and entered into force on July 14, 2022.
