Monkeypox declared a global health emergency by the World Health Organization

The World Health Organization’s Director, Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus, announced a Monkeypox outbreak an emergency situation of international importance, RIA Novosti reports.

“I have decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern”, he said on the press conference following the meeting of the WHO Emergency Committee.

We note that a monkeypox is a rare viral infection that can occur in humans. Usually ерш is a light disease, the majority of patients recover within a few weeks, but some may have complications.

Initial symptoms are fever, headache, muscle pains, swollen lymph nodes, exhaustion. A rash may develop, often starting on the face and then spreading to other parts of the body.

As per the latest WHO’s data, more than 16 thousand reported cases from 75 countries of the world has been identified, but the highest risk of distribution of the monkeypox is in Europe.
