The eighth day of the 2022 “Silk Road” rally raid took participants from Kalmykia through the territory of the Astrakhan region to Volgograd.
At the eighth special stage, Russian Dmitry Voronov from the LADA Sport ROSNEFT team won the third special stage in a row, more than an hour ahead of Merdan Toylyev from Turkmenistan, who became the second.
But Shamurad Gurbanov, who became the third, was only 25 seconds behind Toylyev, reports the official website of the “Silk Road” International Rally.
Such sharpness of the struggle is due to the fact that after eight special stages Toylyev and Gurbanov are separated by only 8 minutes. Maksatmurad Danatarov takes the third place, and Dmitry Voronov is fourth.
The ninth day of the “Silk Road” rally will bring the race participants to Lipetsk. The total length of the stage along the Volgograd-Lipetsk route will be 773 kilometers, 314 of which will be a special section.
The “Silk Road” rally will end on July 16. The total length of the route will be 4,4 thousand kilometers. Racers will come to the finish line at “Luzhniki” in Moscow. In total, 80 crews participate in the competition.
