275 Turkmen pilgrims will have the opportunity to make the hajj to Mecca and Medina from 2 to 22 July 2022. The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the corresponding Order today, announced the Turkmen news TV program “Watan”.
In accordance with the document, the Transport and Communications Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers was ordered to organize at its own expense a special flight of “Turkmen Airlines” to deliver believers to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and back to Turkmenistan.
Representatives of the five velayats (regions) and the capital of Turkmenistan will carry out a hajj to Mecca and Medina during the days of Gurban bayram, where they will perform worship of the sacred Kaaba for Muslims and other traditional rituals.
Hajj is one of the five pillars on which Islam is based. Pilgrimage to the holy places in Mecca is prescribed to be made at least once in a lifetime by every Muslim. Hajj is divided into major and minor. A small hajj (umrah), unlike a large one, a Muslim can perform at any time of the year. In turn, a big hajj is performed in the month dedicated to this “Zul-Hija” (“month of pilgrimage”).
