Turkmenistan and Iran will intensify cooperation in the border area. Presidents Serdar Berdimuhamedov Seyed Ebrahim Raisi came to agreement upon this during the talks held in Tehran today.
At a meeting with his Iranian colleague, Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that the State border between Turkmenistan and Iran is the border of friendship and good-neighborliness.
“With the aim of well-grounded discussion of all topic related to intensifying of bilateral cooperation in border and other spheres, it was offered to conduct an Intergovernmental Commission on consular, border and customs issues between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran in the second half of this year in Ashgabat,” the information program “Watan” of Turkmen television reported.
The President of Turkmenistan underlined that a special place in intergovernmental relations is given to the transformation of the Caspian Sea to the area of peace, good-neighborliness, conciliation and mutually beneficial partnership.
Speaking about the importance of promoting effective cooperation in the field of combating illicit drug trafficking and border crime, in the field of ecology, innovation and the humanitarian sphere, Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that all these tasks will be discussed during the VI Summit of the heads of State of the Caspian countries, scheduled to be held this year in Turkmenistan.
