Turkish Airlines will be renamed to Türkiye Havayollari. President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the change of the name of the national air carrier during the commissioning ceremony of the next satellite “Turksat 5B”, reports Day.Az.
“We have done a symbolic step by changing the name of our country which is used in the international arena. There is no Turkey more, there is Türkiye. And from now we won’t write Turkish Airlines on the fuselages of our airliners, there will be Türkiye Havayollar,” the President of the country said.
We remind that on June 1, the UN approved a request of Turkey on the change of the name of the republic on the official documents in foreign languages into Türkiye.
