Today at a press conference with his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Ebrahim Raisi said that the visit of a high-ranking delegation of Turkmenistan to Tehran could become a turning point in relations between the two countries.

“Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called relations with Turkmenistan not neighborly, but fraternal, civilizational, cultural, kindred and strong”, informs the Iranian news agency IRNA.

The head of the Iranian government also noted that his visit to Ashgabat a few months ago led to increased cooperation in many sectors, and also Raisi called for capacity building with Turkmenistan in the fields of economy, water and energy.

The Iranian President noted that the talks between the two countries testify to the serious will of Tehran and Ashgabat to expand ties, and the implementation of today’s agreements and the signing of a document on cooperation with Turkmenistan for the next 20 years show the importance of relations with Ashgabat.
