Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain became the second in the list of the longest reigning monarchs in history. As daily.afisha.ru reports Elizabeth II bypassed the King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), who was on the throne from 1927 to 2016 — 70 years and 126 days.

The first line in the list of longest reigning monarchs is taken by the French king Louis XIV (1638-1715), who ruled for 72 years and 110 days. Thus, the 96-year-old Queen of Great Britain is separated from the absolute record by a little less than two years.

Let’s remind that this year the platinum anniversary of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II is celebrated. Festive events devoted to this date were held in the country from June 2 to 5.
