Turkmenistan will play with Australia in the first Asian Youth Cup play-off in its history

The youth national team from Turkmenistan for the first time in history of the playoffs of the Asian Youth Cup-2022 (under 23) made it into play-off of the tournament. The Turkmen national team sealed draw 2:2 in the match with Qatar in the last tour and entered the number of ¼ tournament finals participants.

The opponent of the Turkmenistan youth team in the quarterfinals will be the Australian team. On June 11, in Tashkent at the “Milliy” Stadium, they will play their match of the ¼ finals of the tournament.

The Australian youth national football team six times represented the country at the Olympic Games: in 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2020. The team also represented Australia at the Asian Championships (under 23) in 2013, 2016, 2018 and 2020. It should be noted that at the Asian Championship 2020, the Australian “youth team” took third place.

The Australians entered play-off of the competition from the first place in the group “B” (7 points) by defeating Kuwait (2:0) and Jordan (1:0), as well as drawing with Iraq (1:1).
