Today, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations and Chairwoman of the UN Group on Sustainable Development Ms. Amina Mohammed. According to the Information Program "Watan" of the National Television, Turkmenistan was the first country in the Central Asian region that a high-ranking UN representative visited as part of a working trip undertaken to participate in the upcoming second High-level International Conference "Water for Sustainable Development" in Tajikistan.
During the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged views on the state and prospects for the development of long-term fruitful cooperation, the effectiveness of which is evidenced by dozens of projects implemented in various fields.
They also discussed possible areas of joint cooperation within the framework of the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period up to 2030, which is closely related to the key goals and objectives outlined in the National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan until 2052.
During the conversation, it was noted that successfully implementing the policy of neutrality Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to sustainable development, strengthening peace and security in Central Asia, being the author of many time-demanded initiatives in the field of energy, transport, ecology, health, social and other areas, embodied in a number of Resolutions of the UN General Assembly.
Stressing the importance of large-scale projects of national and regional significance implemented by Turkmenistan, the First Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the active position of the Turkmen party in addressing issues related to such pressing problems of humanity as ensuring global energy security, developing broad international cooperation in transport and logistics sector, rational use of resources, climate change, as well as protection of environment.
Ms. Amina Mohammed expressed deep interest of her organization in further deepening and steadily building up the traditional partnership that meets the interests of well-being of all mankind and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Thanking for such a high assessment of the work implemented, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan intends to continue taking an active part in the international efforts in strategically important areas.
