The Japanese concern Toyota intends to reduce the production of cars due to the lack of microchips and quarantine in China after the outbreak of the coronavirus on June 2022. As reports the publication Autonews, the company will not able to assemble 150 thousand cars compared to its original plan, and the total production at all plants in the world will be 800 thousand car per month.

Due to the unstable situation with components, the company has already been forced to stop the production process in March, April and May 2022. In this regard, there is a possibility of reducing the annual production plan. Toyota representatives stressed: “It is very difficult to estimate the current supply situation parts due to the ongoing lockdown in Shanghai”.

The Japanese automaker sold 10,49 million vehicles and became the world’s largest automaker in 2021. As notes the publication, this exceeded Toyota’s sales in 2020 by 10%. The Volkswagen AG (8,3 million) and General Motors (6,29 million) are also included in top three.
