The world’s largest yellow diamond, the “Red Cross”, was sold at Christie’s in Geneva. As informs the website of the auction house, the unique stone went under the hammer for 12 million USD. This is the third time the “Red Cross” diamond has been put up for auction, reports daily.afisha.

The stone for the first time was sold during a humanitarian auction in favor of the Red Cross in 1918. And it was again put up for auction and bought for 1,8 million Swiss francs in 1973.

The VS2 clarity “Red Cross” diamond weighs 205,07 carats. The gemstone got its name due to the cut, which is made in such a way that inside the stone a Maltese cross is visible.
