The Ashgabat boutique Gold Palace presents luxury watches from the famous Italian brand Officine Panerai, which has its own unique success story.
Giovanni Panerai’s first watch shop opened in 1860 in Florence. The store is still located at the same place – on the San Giovanni’s square, and Panerai Museum is also open to visitors.
The victorious march of the Panerai brand across Europe, and then around the world, began in 1919, since the company began cooperation with the Royal Italian Navy. For them, Panerai developed a glowing powder based on radium, which was applied to watch dials and created a good illumination. In the same year, the brand’s innovation was patented under the name Radiomir. Further, in 1936, the company released a new type of watch for divers – waterproof and with a large diameter dial. In 1949, a patent was obtained for the composition Luminor, the name of which comes from the tritium-based luminescent composition, which was decorated with hour indicators.
The Radiomir 1940 model appeared after successful testing of the watch for a long stay under water in extreme conditions.
Also, Panerai develops the GPF-2\56 diving watch, which later became known as the “Egyptian”: with the consent of the Italian Navy it was supplied to the Egyptian Navy.
In 1993 Panerai reached a new level of development and developed three limited edition watches for the general public: Luminor, Luminor Marina and Mare Nostrum, and the company itself began to be called Officine Panerai.
In 1995 Panerai produced a watch especially for Sylvester Stallone, which was used during the filming of underwater scenes in the film “Daylight”. Stallone becomes an ardent admirer of Panerai and gives branded watches to his many friends. Later, among the fans of the brand were Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Heidi Klum, Hugh Grant, Robbie Williams, Jason Statham, Russell Crowe and other stars. The company’s watch fans also include former US President Bill Clinton.
The Panerai manufactory has many inventions and complex devices and mechanisms developed by it, including the proprietary GMT time zone indication system, a transverse rotation tourbillion, and mechanisms with an extended power reserve.
Panerai watches – the embodiment of style, originality and success – are now in Turkmenistan.
