Saudi Arabia permitted foreign pilgrims to make Haji to Mecca

Pilgrims from the abroad were permitted to participate in the Haji to Mecca for the first time since 2020. Informed the Saudi press agency with a refence to the Ministry of Haji and Umrah.

At the same time, the authorities increased the number of participants to 1 million people. Only 60 000 pilgrims were permitted to visit Mecca in 2021. Before the pandemic outbreak their number reached 2,5 million people.

The Haji to the Muslim shrine this year can make only people, who reached the age of 65 and are vaccinated against COVID-19.

When crossing the border of the kingdom, foreign pilgrims should have a negative test result for coronavirus, taken earlier than 72 hours before departure.

The Ministry of Haji and Umrah stressed, that it is necessary to keep precautions and follow preventive instructions while performing rituals, in order to preserve one’s health and safety.
