Today, a package of documents aimed at strengthening contacts on economic, scientific and cultural cooperation was signed between Turkmenistan and India after the high-level talks in Ashgabat, Indian media reported.
In particular, the following agreements were concluded:
- Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the area of emergency management;
- Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the exchange of financial information related to the legalization of proceeds from crime and financing of terrorism;
- Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the area of youth.
A Program of cooperation in the area of culture and art for 2022-2025 was also signed.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of India Ram Nath Kovind adopted a Joint Statement.
Commenting on the signed documents, President Ram Nath Kovind expressed support for Turkmenistan's readiness to send a delegation consisting of youth representatives to India through cultural interaction in the above-mentioned format. In his opinion, the signed Memorandum will give an opportunity to intensify bilateral youth exchanges.
To recap, the current visit of the President of India to Turkmenistan is the first in history. It takes place in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries and the 75th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of India.
