The first container train from Turkmenistan to China successfully passed through Kazakhstan and reached its destination. This is reported by the Press service of "KTZ".

A train of 42 forty-foot containers loaded with gypsum started from the Akyaila station (Turkmenistan), after which it crossed the territory of Kazakhstan, covering a distance of 4150 km to the border with China. The passage of the Kazakhstan section of this route, which runs from the border crossings of Serkhetyaka-Bolashak to Altynkol-Khorgos and is 3,450 km, took 5 days of travel.

This project was implemented jointly by JSC "Transport and Logistics Center Turkmenistan" and JSC "KTZ Express" in coordination with the Chinese colleagues.

"The new communication along the promising overland route opens up additional opportunities for cooperation between the railway administrations of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. In the future, it is planned to increase the volume of cargo flows. The container train will run regularly," Nurlan Igembayev, Head of KTZ Express JSC said.

The launch of the container line from Turkmenistan to China became possible thanks to the operation of the Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway, one of the branches of the North-South international transport corridor that began operation in 2014.
